PHIL TAYLOR became World Darts Champion for a 15th time with a 7-3 victory over Australian Simon Whitlock in the final of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship 2010.
Pony-tailed Whitlock, nicknamed The Wizard, stunned Taylor by taking a 2-1 lead early in the final – only for the reigning champion to respond in typically stunning style.
Taylor hit finishes of 170, 167 and 161 in a run of five successive winning sets before completing victory in the tenth set to claim a record £200,000 cheque, the highest ever paid out in darts’ history.
